TheShadow is all about sharing love, identity and culture. We manage this by organizing events, producing performances, hosting workshops, creating artistic projects and building a strong community. Our main focus is on the city of Amsterdam and it's patchwork of subcultures.

The Arabian Flavour
One of our projects is The Arabian Flavour - a set of events, dance-collective and music band with an Arabic touch. The monthly Arabian Flavour Night creates a stage to fresh faces from all over the world, while sharing the Arabic culture. Ten editions throughout the year are concluded into a big summer celebration: Arabian Flavour Festival. All artists, styles, ages and talents come together for a full day of festivities in the sunshine. Besides that, the dance collective and band share the Arabian Flavour with the outside world. They visit external events with workshops and performances.
Blues, Funk & Love
TheShadow also organizes projects that shed light on other (sub)cultures, like Breaking, Funk, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Eritrean music and many other styles. One of the events we are especially proud of is Blues, Funk & Love: A funky program that combines a dance-workshop with live funk and blues by the Pifo Blues Band and a groovy afterparty with classic tunes.
Vision
TheShadow prides itself on working with creatives that didn’t get all the chances they deserve (yet) - hidden talent, self-taught artists and newcomers. Diversity and inclusion are two of our leading goals: We do not only carefully select the performers on stage, but also open up to everyone in the audience through interaction.

Shadow
is the founder, director and creative producer of TheShadow. Born in Syria, bred in Lebanon - he has many years of experience as a professional dancer, acrobat and running his own crew and organization. He is the Mouth and Face of the company, doing everything from fundraising and promotion to executive production and last-minute errands. He is a master networker and most importantly very sexy on stage!
Sofia Popova
is a professional singer from Ukraine, the bandleader of the Pifo Blues Band, vocalist of The Jazz Cat Duo and partner in Blues, Funk&Love. She performs at TheShadow with all her musical projects, besides being part of the core team! Sofia not only has an amazing voice, but also eye and taste, and helps out with photography, graphic design and maintaining a nice vibe ;)
Lot Wuisman
is a project manager from The Netherlands with a background in filmmaking, dramaturgy, theatre production and festival organization. She has been part of TheShadow since the very start, setting up the business and events. She is mainly responsible for the overall management: Coordinating the team, planning, PR, finances, fundraising, text writing, locations and bookings. When she can, she likes to design (like this website).
Zaher Hamzat
is a Palestinian dancer and choreographer that has helped TheShadow out as visionary on many accounts. He is a seasoned artist working in Brazil and with the National Ballet in Syria. He is our trusted technical hand and practical thinker, coming up with a solution for everything! Zaher is currently developing himself as sound and light engineer, besides amazing us with his performances.
Gerben Estvelt
is a sound engineer with roots in Indonesia, as you can see in the name of his company: Suara Kita. When Gerben became part of the family the quality of our events was elevated to a new level. He is not only a joy to work with - cool, calm and collected - but also very passionate and knowledgable about all types of music. He and his family are one of the biggest sponsors of TheShadow, on- and backstage. Shoutout to Aaron and Bette!
Nerea Westerop
is a producer, filmmaker and social media manager from the Canery Islands. She brings a lot of work experience to the table and knows better than anyone else how to bring a production together. With TheShadow she specializes in scouting new talent and bringing her crazy latina moves. But most importantly, she shares her cinematographic talent with us, creating mini movies of all events.
